The cooling capacity of an air conditioner is expressed in kW or BTU. How much BTU you need per m3 and what you need to take into account is explained here!

How much BTU you need for your situation depends on a number of factors. For example, the location of the space in the house makes a difference (is the sun all day on a flat roof?) But also how many outer walls the space has. The insulation of the space also plays a role. For most of our air conditioners we mention a number of cubic meters (= m3) for which the air conditioning is suitable.

However, this guide number assumes ideal conditions. Therefore use the 2 steps below to see how much BTU you probably need.

2 STEPS TO CREATE HOW TO HAVE YOU NECESSARY TO AIRCO

We go through two steps that give you a good idea of how much BTU you need for an air conditioner. In step 1 we determine the insulation class and in step 2 we calculate the cooling capacity with a simple formula.

Step 1: CERTAIN THE ISOLATIC CLASSES OF YOUR BACK

For an average house in Blegiene, the rule of thumb is that you need about 30 to 40 Watt of cooling power for each cubic metre. That is equal to 100 to 135 BTU per m3. However, there are a number of factors involved. Use the classification below to determine in which insulation class your room to be cooled falls.

Step 2: CREATMENT WITH THE FORMER HOW TO COOL YOU PER M3 NEED

Besides the insulation class, it is important to determine the size of the room. Using these two data, you can easily find out how much BTU you need in the diagram below. BTU or actually Btu/u becomes a bit outdated to indicate cooling capacity. We usually use Watt or kW for this nowadays. So actually the question changes: How much kW do you need to cool your room properly? You can calculate the content of the space with the following formula:

Space capacity formula: area (m2) * height (m) = capacity in m3.

depending on the insulation class, you determine the multiplication factor. This can be done with a factor 30, 40 or 50. But with this formula to calculate the cooling capacity, we won't tire you. The diagram below is much easier and clearly shows how much cooling capacity you need.

The cooling capacity of an air conditioner is usually expressed in BTU (BTU/h) or Watt (or kW). The relationship between BTU/h and Watt is the following: 1 kW, or 1000 Watt = 3.41 BTU/h.
